Artistic Celebrations

I am so lucky to have an artistic mother because I get beautiful original artworks for my birthday, anniversary and even Christmas presents. Sometimes they come in the form of a framed piece - like the watercolour, above, which I received for my 40th Birthday last week. She knows I love the classic willow pattern and she chose yellow cherries as they'll match the colours in my kitchen. Then she frames them in these simple frames (which by the way she gets at Ikea).

Above, my 25th Birthday card.

This bird showed up in a bouquet of flowers delivered on my birthday to my office in New York many years ago.

This was my mother's day card this year.

On Thanksgiving last year we received this card. Even though we live in Ireland, we still celebrate Thanksgiving every year.

Our dog Sugar turned 1 last November and this card arrived to mark the day. (Sugar is definately part of our family so we take these things pretty seriously :))

When Sugar won 1st Place at the Nenagh Agricultural Fair - this postcard arrived in the post shortly afterwards.

For Valentine's Day this year - Sophia received this fabulous hula heart dancing rabbit.

For my 39th Birthday last year, I received this exquisite watercolour card of lupines. My mother was inspired by the illustrations of Barbara Cooney who illustrated a favourie book of ours, Miss Rumphius.

There are, of course, many more cards and I am in the process of scanning and cataloging them all so you will see more in upcoming months.

I'm just so thankful to have a mother who is so incredibly talented and expresses herself through her work. We now have the most beautiful history of all these moments in our lives captured through her artwork.
