Charity Walk for Share A Dream Foundation

On 31 May, I embarked on a charity walk in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. It was a 20K (12 mile) through the fantastic landscape up in the mountains. There were a total of 72 people walking all to raise money for Share A Dream Foundation (www.shareadream.ie) which grants wishes for sick children in Ireland. Since the foundation was founded by Shay Kinsella over 20 years ago, they've granted wishes for over 19,000 children. This is all without any government backing just from corporate and private donations.
They now have plans to build Dreamland - a theme park that will cater to both sick children but all children are welcome. They have secured a 12 acre site in Limerick and have impressive plans. So, understandably, they are just about to launch a big fundraising campaign to secure the funds to make Dreamland. Their goal is to raise €12 million, which frankly is a drop in bucket in the overall scheme of things.
We had utterly gorgeous weather on the day - sunny and hot but a good breeze kept us from totally melting. The group kept up a great pace and we completed it in 3 hours and 45 minutes. I took as many photos as I could and you can see them below but I couldn't stop much as it was easy to get left behind.
At the finish we were treated to a BBQ in the garden of the pub in Kinnitty.
I would like to thank Kerrie O'Connor owner of Eventsuccess (www.eventsuccess.ie), Sorcha Curtin owner of Sequoia Lane in Limerick (www.sequoialane.com) and couture milliner Linda McKay (www.lindamckay.ie) for their generous donations along with my family and friends.

If you are interested in walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, located in Co. Offaly - log onto their website www.slievebloom.ie. They have guided walks most Sundays throughout the summer plus there are plenty of festivals and events.
